This Tuesday in Jerusalem US president Donald Trump said that the Israeli and Palestinian leaders are ´ready to reach for peace´
“We know that peace is possible if we put aside the pain and disagreements of the past and commit together to finally resolving this crisis which has dragged on for nearly half a century,” Trump said in his speech on Tuesday. At the same time, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that main problem for the Palestinians is closely attached with the Israeli occupation and settlements and Israel’s failure to recognize Palestine. Furthermore, Benjamin Netanyahu, prime minister of Israel, warned that it is not going to be easy task to reach peace but at the same time he expressed an optimise by saying that ´for the first time in many years and the first time in my lifetime, I see a real hope for change.´
The current political conflict started in the early 20th century. Even though, UN was having an idea to give each of the groups parts of the land, the idea failed. As the result, Arab nations and Israel had several wars. At the moment, they key issues to reach the peace are mutual recognition, borders, security and control of Jerusalem. The last one was mentioned this Tuesday as one of the main issues. Both countries claim that Jerusalem is their country capital. It is a major complication to reach a peace. As the Palestinian Authority controls the West Bank and is seated in Ramallah and militant group Hamas controls the Gaza Strip.
Neither Israel nor Palestinians did not try to talk about the peace already for three years. However, according to Donald Trump this situation will changes in the nearest future. At the end of the meeting Donald Trump promised once again, that he will help both countries to reach the piece.
